Rose Frederic's Cirrhosis Challenge

Fourteen year old Rose Frederic from Haiti has cirrhosis of the liver.  Her father, Biencher Frederic, (Freddy)  works at Naples Golf and Tennis ironing sheets all night.  Earlier in the year, he brought Rose, to Naples from Haiti because they couldn't treat her cirrhosis there.  The minute they examined her in Naples, they rushed her to Jackson Hospital in Miami.  Freddy couldn't go with her because he had to work.   She stayed in the hospital for 17 days.  She was alone there because her father had to continue to work in Naples.  It was frightening for the then 13 year old girl to travel alone two hours in an ambulance without any family member to be with her.  But now she is back in Naples, after having been in and out of the hospital at least once since the first 17 day stay.   There are numerous trips back to Jackson hospital in Miami for doctor visits and she has a long list of medications to take.  

During the most recent visit, the doctors said that she is in dire need of more medical help than they can give without insurance.   Freddy has insurance with his job but it doesn’t cover her because she does not have a green card.   Her green card has been applied for and she has had her fingerprints taken which means she is in line to get the card.  She is just waiting for the interview with USCIS.  Since the beginning of the year when she arrived here, they have accumulated $75,000 worth of medical bills.  

Freddy is a hard working man, a conscientious man.  He needs help to pay for the medication and hospital bills.  If you could chip in a little, it would be greatly appreciated.   The Miami Health Department has a solution for cases like this.  They have a medical card that will cover people who are uninsured.  But since the family doesn't live in Miami, they are ineligible for this solution.
