Rory's fight against cancer

Thank you for visiting Rory's Go Fund Me page, and supporting his fight against cancer.

In early September 2016, Rory was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma Cancer. The initial prognosis was that the tumour could be removed by surgical procedure, and the outlook was generally positive.

Rory was admitted into the Royal Marsden on Wednesday 13th October to have the tumour removed, however, during the procedure the Surgeons discovered that the cancer had spread to other parts of his body (including his liver, pancreas and kidney), and unfortunately had to abort the operation.  Due to the complex nature, and the risk associated with Rory's case, the Surgeons made the decision not to continue the surgery to remove the cancer. This left Rory with few remaining options.

On Wednesday 16th November, Rory was admitted to the Charing Cross Hospital in Hammersmith to begin a course of Chemotherapy. The aim of this treatment is to suppress, and hopefully reduce, the spread of cancer. This would mean that the Surgery previously aborted to remove the cancerous tumour again becomes an option. Unfortunately, Rory and his family have been advised that traditionally, Chemotherapy is proven to not be successful with the type of cancer that Rory has.

For those of us that know and love Rory, it is impossible to accept that there is nothing further that can be done, Rory has remained strong and optimistic throughout, only asking to be given a fighting chance in the face of adversity. Having beaten cancer once already, Rory is an example of resilience and determination, He recently became engaged to his fiancee Sultana, and the two of them deserve to look forward to a life of happiness together.

We are looking to fundraise to enable Rory to seek treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York City. This facility is widely regarded to offer superior and innovative cancer treatments to people suffering with this disease. However, due to the differences between the American and British healthcare systems, the costs associated with this treatment are high. With support from Rory's friends and family, and anyone else that wishes to help Rory in his fight, we can give him that fighting chance that he not only wishes for, but deserves.

Rory, Sultana, his brother Brian and Mum Noreen, as well as his wider friends and family thank you all for reading his story, and for your ongoing love and support.
