Roof Repair for Old Union Church

Old Union Presbyterian Church is a vital small church in western Pennsylvania that provides welcoming presence in the community and reaches out to those in need from people close at home to its work with partners in Ghana.  We are close to paying off the mortgage on a building project in 2009 that nearly doubled our building size.  Each year Old Union Church sends mission teams to help disaster victims rebuild from tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods.  Now we can use your help.
A hole in the sanctuary ceiling greeted worshipers who came to Old Union Church on July 9.  We've known that the roof needed to be replaced, and the church board recently approved a bid from a contractor who has agreed to move us up on their work schedule. Hopefully they will be able to begin work on July 17.  A cheerful church volunteer has done some temporary patchwork in the meantime, in hopes that this week's rain won't add to the damage before the replacement work can begin.
The contractor will replace all the roofs of the original building, flat roofs and shingles, at a cost of about $34,000. Fortunately, we already have about half that amount. Your contribution will not only help us meet this urgent need, but enable us to continue to pay off our mortgage ahead of schedule so that we can devote more of our financial resources to the mission God has given us to "encourage one another and build each other up" (1 Thessalonians 5:11).
