Ronan's Recovery Fund

$13,740 of $25k goal

On the 29th January Ronan, a beautiful, healthy, active, articulate, cuddly 5 year old boy became very unwell. Due to a blood clot he suffered multiple strokes to his cerebellum (back of brain). The clot was removed in urgent surgery, as was a piece of his skull (to allow swelling). He spent 16 days in ICU in a critical condition, 14 of these on breathing support. Thankfully he pulled through and has now been moved to the ward and commenced rehab.

This sweet, determined little man is growing stronger every day, but it’s a long road ahead, with 6-12 months of rehab expected.

This fund has been created to assist with immediate costs, ongoing costs and planning for an unknown future. As friends of the family we want to be able to show our love and support by easing their financial burden.

His wonderful mum, Amy, is staying at the hospital with Ronan to help with the daily rehabilitation. Wayne, Ronan’s dad, is juggling work and daily hospital visits and sister Jenaya is staying with extended family for now.

We want to say a huge thank you to those who have already given money, cooked meals, made visits to the hospital, been praying and provided support in many different ways.

Thank you so much for contributing to help this wonderful family whose lives have been turned upside down overnight.

Many thanks! Rebecca

Firstly, thank you all so much for your generous donations! They are going to make a huge difference to the Osborne family and lift their financial burden.

I just wanted to provide an update about Ronan as it’s now been nearly 12 weeks since he went into hospital. He’s made amazing progress and here are some highlights –
- He has started talking
- His mobility has increased
- His feeding tube has been removed and he’s eating and drinking
- He is now doing standing work with the physio team which is really exciting
- He had his first day visit home last weekend

The rehab team are very happy with his progress and are using words like “discharge planning”. The hope is that he can go home for whole weekends soon.

Please continue to pray for healing as Ronan is cared for by the capable staff at the hospital. Please pray that he will sleep well, increase his fluid intake and continue to improve in taking medication. Please also pray for Amy, Wayne and Jenaya as they continue to support Ronan on this journey.

I hope you enjoy these photos showing his wonderful progress.

Thanks again and please keep sharing this page with others. Rebecca
