Roisin is a 30-year-old mother of 3 girls from Dublin 12 . In September, of 2017 Roisin was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurological condition that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat and breathe and will cause gradual deterioration for Roisin over the coming months and years and will ultimately be fatal. Unfortunately, there is no treatment or cure for this condition.At present Roisin is currently dealing with some effects of this condition and has already some difficulty using her upper extremities. Day to day tasks have become a challenge. Dressing, eating, writing and cooking are increasingly difficult for Roisin as is anything requiring fine motor skills and Roisin is facing this challenge with great courage.
As Roisin’s condition progresses her needs will change considerably. This condition, by its nature will eventually mean Roisin will completely lose the ability to complete even the simplest of tasks. Unfortunately, the progression of Motor Neurone Disease does not follow a specific pattern which means any of the symptoms of the illness can appear at any time and in any order.
As these symptoms manifest we need to be in a position to help Roisin with her specific needs at any given time. To this end we are currently in the process of trying to organise a fundraising event. Although it is still in the early stages of planning we need donations to allow us to plan this event which will, hopefully raise enough money to ensure Roisin’s needs will be met going forward.
With this in mind, we would like to ask you to make a donation towards our fundraising campaign for Roisin.
