Let me tell you a story that proves that selflessness still exists.

In 2011, after being inspired by a child's story of her fight against cancer, Roger Keplinger and I decided we wanted to try our hand at conducting a fundraiser event. We had become familiar with our local music scene, having established the East Coast Metal Confederacy within that year. Roger contacted and established a relationship with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We also found that a surprising number of bands, along with vendors, were willing to help us with our cause. With all necessary factors in place courtesy of Roger, The Kick Cancer For Kids Metalfest was born. It was a great sucess, and due to Roger's vision, along with the constant work he puts toward it, Kick Cancer For Kids has become an annual event. KCFK has raised thousands of dollars toward the fight against childhood cancer, and we plan to raise thousands more.

In the shadow of this year's event, the story became a little different.

As plans were being established for this year's event, Roger found himself in his own personal battle with this horrible disease, being diagnosed with  squamous cell carcinoma, a form of oral cancer.  He will have to have half of his tongue removed, along with the surrounding lymph nodes. Even with this bombshell being dropped on Roger and his family, Kick Cancer For Kids is continuing on this year, as if nothing is going on behind the scenes.

I feel that if there is anyone that deserves the support in light of everything that he has already done for the cause, it's Roger.

Sadly, on June 1, 2017, Roger lost his battle with cancer. Although he lost his battle, he never stopped fighting, and his vision with Kick Cancer For Kids will continue for years to come.

Your donation will go to Roger's Family to assist with funeral expenses, as well as the cost of living as they make the adjustment to life without him.

Let's help Roger Keplinger kick cancer, just like he has done for so many people before him!
