Christmas for ALS Patient

Donation protected
Rod Cooper is a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.  In this picture from March 2015, he is the one wearing the red shirt in the forefront.  He was diagnosed with ALS in April 2015 after a year and a half of trying to figure out why he was losing the use of his legs.  ALS is a degenerative neuromuscular disease for which there is no treatment and no cure.

Since his diagnosis, his condition has progressed rather rapidly. His current scooter is no longer practical for him because he is now losing the use of his arms and hands. It is becoming increasingly difficult to transfer him from the scooter to the car or any other seat.  He is unable to get in and out of a bed, so he sleeps in a reclining lift chair.

The family would like to get him a power wheelchair with tilt and recline features and an accessible van for Christmas.  Unfortunately, even used ones are extremely costly; and we have a limited income because he needs constant care.

If we reach our monetary goal, we hope to purchase a new wheelchair (customizable to his changing needs) and a used van that will enable him to get out of the house. This will be a tremendous blessing for him and his family.
