Robotics FTC Team 8995
Located in rural Arizona in a small community known as Heber Overgaard, a robotics team was created. Serving an underpriviledged area of Arizona, local volunteers and kids helped to start a program that would help bring real world application to the STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathmatics) programs at both the Jr. High and High Schools.
Jaegers Robotics - Team 8995 (Jaegers from the movie Pacific Rim) joined the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Tech Challenge program (FTC). This program offers a technical design challenge where the students design, create, collaborate and fine tune both a robot and the individual team members to compete in competitions.
More than just robots, our team has grown and helped individuals reach their potential. This program is a natural draw for students that do not always fit in other school programs or activities. We welcome all and are proud to be called nerds!
As you well know it takes money to make these programs successful. With expenses like robot hardware, computers, travel, and registration fees, we need all the financial help we can get. We recieve amazing support from our local community, however our community is small and lacks the big sponsors found in other larger cities.
We need your help to continue our amazing journey. Our team has won every competition we have been in this season and we are on track to continue on to the Western Super Regional event that is held in Tacoma, WA the second week of March 2017. If we do well there we will continue on to the World Championship event held in Houston, TX in April 2017.
These events are just around the corner. A contribution of any amount would be helpful and most appreciated. As part of outreach and community service our team performs service projects in our community to give back and show our appreciation to those who support us.
