Robin's Chemo Wig

Last November, our mother Robin discovered a small lump on her left breast. Although she thought it was nothing, she decided to go into her doctor and get it looked at. After a few tests, she was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. This, of course, came as a huge blow to all of us. She had already been through a lot with her health recently, most notably an open heart surgery in August 2015. There was a silver lining to the situation though. Since she had caught this early on, the growth was very small, surgery to remove it would not require any overnight stay and the survival rate was virtually 100%. On November 27th, she had surgery to remove the lump and it was successful. As of right now, Mom is cancer-free.


After review of the surrounding tissue, Mom’s oncologist determined that she has a 17% chance of her cancer returning. According to the experts, that is too high. Mom will have to go through chemo, radiation and hormone therapies. Going through chemotherapy will, of course, cause mom to lose her signature, beautiful, blonde hair. As first, Mom was resistant to the possibility of wearing a wig but has since reconsidered.


This is where we come in. Getting a wig made from her own hair is rather expensive and the timeline is a couple months. She has already begun chemotherapy and had her hair cut. That combined with my sister Victoria's hair should be enough for a lovely wig for her.


We have done some research and we calculate about $1000 needed for the wig. Anything you can give would be very much appreciated and if you are unable to give, please share this campaign on social media so it could possibly reach someone who is able to donate.
