What would you do if you desperately needed legal help but you couldn't afford a lawyer?
Legal Aid, right? Well, if you're fighting to save your house, retain custody of your kids or escape a violent partner, it's actually pretty unlikely you'd qualify for their help in court.
It's more likely you'll need to turn to a community legal service. It's a sector very few Australians care about - until they need it.
Southern Gold Coast has around 300,000 residents, adjoins other high population districts and is a long standing priority need area for a funded community legal centre.
Volunteers at the nationally accredited Robina Community Legal Centre cannot meet overwhelming demand in practice areas of family and domestic violence; tenancy, consumer, debt, employment and other civil; micro business; crime; and immigration law.
We desperately need a funded coordinator and practice manager to free up volunteer practitioners and law students from back office administration - to go on the front line: advise, run case files and provide more legal advice – pro bono publico.
