Roberts heart transplant fund

$275 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 8 people in 53 months
Hello, my name is Carla.

Allow me to introduce you to Saint John resident,
Robert Jason Thornton

Robert is 38 years old and the father of 2 young boys.

Robert was born with a rare complex congenital heart condition and has endured many surgeries in his lifetime and is now in end stage heart faliure.

Robert's heart functions have rapidly decreased in the last 6 years,
He has been examined by Heart Specialists at the QEII Hospital in Halifax NS.
This team of Doctors have determined that a Heart Transplant is now the only option for Robert.

This process will include several trips from Saint John to the QEII Hospital in Halifax, NS.
These appointments are necessary to perform tests and check-ups required to monitor Robert to insure that he is prepared when a heart becomes available for transplant.

When Robert does receive his heart transplant it will be necessary for him to live in Halifax for several months, as he will not be strong enough to travel back and forth for weekly follow up care.

We are currently looking for donations to help Robert with his medical expenses such as travel costs, living costs while in Halifax and the costs of covering any medications and extras that Robert may need. Not all of the anti-rejection medications are covered by the government and may cost in excess of $400 or more a month.

Any donation that you can offer for the will be greatly appreciated.

Please contact me for more information.

Robert along with his Family & Friends sincerely thank you for your contribution.

Its been a while but I would like to provide another update and Roberts condition. Currently he is in the hospital and has been for about 2 week. He went in origionaly to have fluid drained but the medication was too strong for the I.V. site and he ended up with MRSA. He is doing well and is on the mend but they will be doing an ultrasound on his chest to see if theres are any shadows around his ICD or his recently installed Picc line. If there is it will mean a longer time with medications in the hospital so we are praying its all fine. Due to this, he is still awaiting the heart transplant but is currently on a hold until the MRSA is clear which shouldnt be long now, fingers crossed.

Please continue to support Robert and his family in any way you can and if you want to donate, any small amount is appreciated.

Hello, Not too much to report. Robert seems to be doing good since his recent stint in the hospital 2 weeks ago. He has some energy but how long that will last is any ones guess. He has a visit to Halifax at the end of the month again for his monthly check up. We keep being told that they almost had a heart but it was the wrong blood type or size. This is disheartening as we want to hear them say "Come get it"... Prayer and faith is what will keep us going though. Please keep supporting and sharing. Lots of love to you all...
