Robert's campaign for Support Our Paras
Tax deductible
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Support Our Paras and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
As an ex-serviceman, although not Para/Airborne trained I have over the last 5 years participated in the Annual Arnhem ride to remember the fallen during Operation Market Garden. To commemorate this, as part of the 75th Anniversary this year there will be a mass Airborne drop into Ginkel Heath which I will be taking part in.
To do this I have had to complete a 5 day course in Holland which has qualified me to jump in Arnhem on the 75th Anniversary. My participation in this will be done in Second World War uniform to remember those that gave all for our freedom.
Qualifying to do this is especially poignant considering I suffered a broken back (in a non related incident) a number of years ago and thought that I may not have recovered sufficiently to be able to achieve any parachute jumps let alone now being able to jump on the 75th Anniversary!
This is a huge achievement for me however this is small in comparison to those who gave in 1944. This in no way makes me a Para but is my way to show respect for those who have gone before me.
In doing so I hope to raise awareness and money for the work that the charity do today for personnel injured in recent conflicts and those that continue to suffer.
I myself have received support from similar charities and want to return the generosity that was given to me in any way I can.
