Hello,
My name is Battsagaan. I was born in Mongolia. Since I was a little child, I loved learning and always tried to give my full efforts to my studies. Even though, my living conditions were not easy - being raised by a single parent with very little to afford, working hard to live through harsh winters of Mongolia by carrying water from far distance, preparing coal and wood for day to day, look for work and small sales during summer holiday to earn money for the next school year's necessities, I completed my secondary education (12 years) with average of 96.3% A making the top student in the regional area. Later I finished my first year of University in a major of Teaching Mathematics with 3.9 GPA and again being selected as the top performing student in the Mathematical school. Due to financial restriction to continue and an opportunity to serve as a missionary for the Church in New Zealand, I took break from my studies for two years. However, I did not have a chance to continue any tertiary education until this year and now being accepted to a Brigham Young University in Provo, USA. I have been admitted to Water and Environmental Engineering program at the University. I chose this major because Mongolia is a landlocked country with very limited source to drinking water and wholly dependent on Mining and Mineral industry which demolishes the environment. A recent survey revealed that 99% of Mongolians use somewhat polluted water and Environmental issues due to Mining and other factors are becoming a critical problem. My hope is to become a well educated and highly qualified personnel for Mongolian future development and rehabilitation.
My school starts in January 9, 2017 and I urgently need to fund the costs of airfare (approx 2000$), books and manuals (800$), accommodation and food (1200$ inc. deposit), other fees and costs including visa, insurance and cash until find a job (1000$).
