We are fundraising to help us in our mission to provide a final home for senior dogs and horses.
What's our story? We are Shelly and Tracey and together we have formed Hoagie's House: A Forever Home for Senior Dogs and Horses. We are a small 501c3 non-profit animal rescue located on 20 acres in Amboy, Wa.
We have chosen to focus on older hard to place dogs who don't do well in shelters and have a difficult time getting adopted. Currently there are five dogs living with us. Our goal is to provide them with the safe, stable, loving and permanent home they deserve for the rest of their lives.
We've also recently decided to put our pasture to a good use and have taken in two older horses who came to us through a rescue organization in Oregon.
The horses are new for us-- neither one of us grew up as horse people. But, we have acres and acres of fenced pasture going to waste and there is such a need for places for older horses who just need a place to live out the last years of their lives without stress. We can provide that.
The population we love and want to serve comes with a lot of needs. Sunny, one of the horses, came to us 200 lbs. underweight. Getting her the vet care she needs and the nutrition needed to get her back into shape is costly. The dogs we take in often come with all the medical issues common to older animals and most are on some kind of daily medication which can be expensive.
We have plans to take in more animals but we need to improve some infrastructure here before we can do this. We need to finish securely fencing the entire property so the dogs can safely roam. We also need to increase the amount of horse shelter and build stalls in order to take in more horses. In addition, we will need to purchase hay for the horses in the winter.
Any donations are very much appreciated. We know not everyone is in the position to be able to do so. We appreciate you all sharing this page if you will. We honestly didn't know what to put as a $$ goal, because we are thankful for any amount we get. You would be surprised how far just $10 goes. (All donations are tax deductible.)
