Help support kiya Edwards

Many of my Fleetwood Friends will know Danny James Edwards.

When I moved out to Australia for a year of fun and adventure so did he!

Danny then met a local girl and together they started a family. Since however life has taken a different direction and whilst Danny is in a Detention Centre due to having no visa to stay freely in Melbourne, his almost 3 year old Daughter, Kiya has been placed in care.

I follow his fight daily and have watched in recent months his mental health significantly deteriorate. He feels helpless; is unable to work, provide for or spend any free time with his baby. He is allowed supervised access for 2 hours each week and has has been in the Detention Centre since April

As a single Father in a foreign country it appears he has very little rights. Even in a country such as Australia.

His future as a Dad in Melbourne looks bleak yet he refuses to give up hope and is willing to stay under lock and key until the very end for his Daughter.

Obviously this is a complicated and drawn out situation but I know for certain that Danny would do absolutely anything for Kiya, who has been taken from the care of her Mum by the local authorities. He is the only responsible parent Kiya has, yet because he is her Dad rather than her Mum this seems to go against him!!

Danny has a Family Court Case pending but is concerned this may be the last Birthday he can share in Australia with his Daughter. His worst case scenario is that he will have to return to the UK and fight for Kiya here. ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD. How is this fair??

Father’s who are willing to fight for their children (especially when they don’t have a Mum) should be given equal rights!!!
