Melissa kicks cancer

2018 started out great for my sister Melissa Parnell, her daughter Rebecca was graduating from NSCC and her son Tim was graduating from Millwood High School. Her and her husband Chris were looking forward to paying off their mortgage in the next few years and enjoying time at the camp with family, friends and their 3 dogs.

In June, at age 39, Melissa was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a very rare form of bile duct cancer. In August she will be going for an extensive surgery, they will removing the bile ducts, a piece of her pancreas, intestines and bowel, part of her stomach and the surrounding lymph nodes. She will be spending her 40th birthday in the ICU. She will be off work for 2 to 3 months.

Prior to her diagnosis, she has been ill for the past year with gallbladder issues and has already undergone one surgery to remove it.

Melissa is so full of life and light and has so many hopes and dreams for the future. If you can, and if it's in your heart to donate, Melissa and all of us will be so grateful. The donations will go towards helping pay bills and meeting her mortgage payments while she is unable to work for months recovering from the surgery.
