Riverside School: Playground appeal
Donation protected
Riverside School caters for pupils who are aged between 4–19 years with severe learning difficulties and profound multiple learning difficulties.
Our aim is to meet the individual needs of all of our pupils and enable them to achieve their full potential by providing a safe, secure and stimulating environment.
This includes the provision of a safe playground and adaptive equipment not only for their enjoyment and exercise, but importantly their physical development.
Vestibular input is a core element of childhood physical development , providing the co-ordination of movement, and the development of balance, spatial awareness and positioning. It helps us prepare our posture, maintain our balance, properly use our vision, calm ourselves and regulate our behavior.
The school was built some 20 years ago, and sadly the main playground, around which the school has been built, is un-used, unsafe and no longer fit for purpose.
We would like to therefore crowdfund for as much money as possible for the provision of specially adapted indoor and outdoor play equipment for our children.
Below are a few pictures of our new indoor swing, on loan this term from one of our suppliers. At a cost of approx £900, it would be fantastic if were able to purchase this item for our new nursery this year. The kids love it, and it will be hard to give it back!
