REFUGEE FLAG KAKUMA (RFK) is all set and excited to host and celebrate our second annual PRIDE DAY, INTERNATIONAL REFUGEES DAY and TRANSGENDER DAY in a special three in one event.
We wish to express our appreciation to all our donors, well-wishers, friends and any others who supported our first PRIDE event last year, the first of its kind in Africa to be hosted by refugees. You did indeed make us proud because it was such a success: our visibility increased, which made our plight as LGBTQ refugees in Kenya known internationally.
We would like to call on you to support us as we organise and prepare for PRIDE 2019 so that we can keep creating awareness of the plight of LGBTQ refugees. We also need your support for us to be able to enjoy the freedom of expression that is our right.
This year we are excited not only because we have been preparing behind the scenes for a while to see that we hold another successful PRIDE event but also because we would also like to make it far better; we know from the experience of PRIDE 2018 , our very first of its kind, how to improve it in terms of celebrations and security.
We shall have 3 days of PRIDE celebrations with each day hosting a different activity in a secure space to ensure that it will be a success.
We can’t wait to do this and to have another moment just to be who we are and celebrate our existence.
