RIP Wayne, Return to Field kitten
Why I despise the county shelter Return to Field Program... Wayne and his siblings were brought to the county shelter as babies. They were fixed and dumped back outside at the finder’s address. Only 2 found there way back, one was Wayne, and he was badly injured. The finder brought him back in there, asking for help. The shelter contacted me, saying he just needed TLC to recover. So I found him a foster mom to pamper him.
But Wayne needed more that was NOT disclosed by the county. He was only 2 pound at 5 months of age. He had puncture wounds on his back. He lost use of his legs within days due to a probable spinal cord injury. After an extensive vet visit with X-rays to try and save him, Wayne had to be humanely euthanized. His injuries were way more than his now frail body could handle.
So now, I am now asking to help with his vet bill. And to bring awareness that this is what happens when cats and kittens are Returned to Field when they are babies or have no street smarts. Poor Wayne had to suffer but he at least knew love by his wonderful foster mom who held him tight when he passed.
