Our Cooper High School girl's basketball team played with heart and soul qualifying for and making HERStory by winning our first ever girls basketball state championship on Saturday 3/17. They play basketball the right way with stellar, lock down defense, amazing passes and unselfish play as well as a steady determination that gets results.
What is most important is the team helped our entire school as well as our community come together to cheer them on to victory. The pride we feel for our school and for our team is enormous. Our girls are lucky enough to be coached by Kiara Buford who was a standout player at St. Paul Central HS leading her high school team to two state tournament championship trophies before a stellar career with the Gophers.
However, with all this success Coach Buford was not able to afford a ring for herself from her championship runs. And, now, our girls also need help to purchase their championship ring. This go fund me request is to help our girls purchase their ring. The ring is beautiful as you can see from the picture. Our girls were determined upon winning it all so that they could bring home the rings. All they ever heard was State Championship Rings and because this is a first ever for the teams,they were stunned to find out they would have to purchase a ring individually.
We are asking that you please donate generously to help us reach our goal of assisting in providing a ring for all the players, coaches and team managers. For all underclassmen we can make a hundred dollar contribution. They deserve to have this keepsake from this memorable championship season, and anythoing we can do will help lessen the financial inpact out their own pocket.
In helping to Celebrate the HAWK making HERstory we want to make sure they have a banquet in style. In Years in the past they have had their banquet at the Bowling alley or the Movie theater, which is nice, but we want to help them secure a spot so that they can have it a more intimate setting that they can sit back enjoy their journey together and eat some amazing food around teammates, friends and family.
