Ride for School Supplies

Maria Sosa (pictured left) and I (pictured right) are biking to raise awareness about the importance of elementary education as well as raise funds to help finance essential classroom supplies and outside learning opportunities (a.k.a. field trips) for my sister's, Michelle's, 4th grade classroom.
We will be attempting to ride approximately 125 miles from San Jose to Petaluma, CA on Sunday, August 2nd.
It would be awesome if you could sponsor us 10 cents/mile, or less... or even more! Here's some quick math:
*10 cents/mile --> $12.50 (about the price of going out for a meal)
*20 cents/mile --> $25.00 (the price of two take-out meals; hey, I'll be losing more calories than that!)

Background:
My sister, Michelle (pictured center), is a 4th grade teacher working with a diverse population of students in Sunnyvale, CA. Many of her students come from low socio-economic backgrounds and are unable to purchase necessary supplies to succeed in school. The goal of this project is to raise funds to purchase necessary supplies as well as help finance a couple academic field trips during the school year.
In my opinion, K-5th education is the most important segment in the K-12th grade education system. Elementary school is where you learn everything from your ABC's to addition/subtraction/multiplication/division. It's where you learn how to read & write, but its also where many students first fall behind. It's absolutely crucial to make sure students do not fall behind, and one way to help is to make sure every student has the supplies needed to succeed as well as the extracurricular opportunities to learn.
We'll be keeping you updated throughout our ride including pictures as we cross the Golden Gate Bridge. We will also keep you updated on how your funds are used during the school year. Thank you!
