Akset family expenses

$46,291 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 401 people in 5 months
On Dec 14, Rick Akset was riding his motorcycle in Yuma, AZ and hit by a car that ran a stop sign.  Ricky is in critical condition in a Phoenix hospital and his family has moved into a hotel close to the hospital.  Ricky's wife Kat and her boys have taken on considerable expenses staying at Ricky's side.   Ricky, a retired USAF Combat Controller, is an instructor at the US Army's Special Forces, Military Freefall School in Yuma, AZ.   The Combat Control Association (CCA) a 501C, Nonprofit organization, is looking to raise funds to offset costs to the family.  The CCA will provide a tax donation form to donors who request one.

All funds raised will be sent directly to Kat or her designated representative.  The CCA POC will set up a
funds withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to Kat at her request.

From Mark Smith: Update on Memorial Service for Rick Akset. All. The memorial will be held at Yuma Proving Grounds Chapel, Yuma Arizona, on the 26th of January. Time is yet to be confirmed, probably between the hours of 1100 - 1400. After the Service, we will move to Phillips DZ, where Joint Force personnel will release Ricks ashes, and deploy an American Flag. Once we complete the service, and our memorial pushups, we will then move to a bar downtown to celebrate and remember Rick. More will be put out as I get the details.

From Mark Smith: "Brothers, and those in our community. It is with deep sadness that I pass on From Ricks Family that Rick Akset passed away this evening. Rick has left us with so many fond memories which all cherish. Please pray for strength for Kathrine, Ryan, Justin and the rest of his family as they deal with their grief. They have seen all the posts from our community and appreciate the love, kindness and prayers that have been passed from you all."

From Kathryn Briet Akset:

Rick Akset day 15
Got a second and then a third opinion from neurosurgeons that all say his brain sustained to much trauma. Was asked to make a decision for comfort care or do trac and feeding tube and see what happens but he would have to live with the decision. Have to decide soon or he would get infections from feeding tube being in his mouth to long.
Rick has told me what to do if this ever happens and I think anyone who knows him knows what that is. Boys and his family all said the same.

From Mark Smith: Latest from Kat

Rick Akset day 13
Rick squeezed my hand and Ryans. Not when asked but still a good sign.
Doc said today they would be looking at taking tube out of lungs and put in a trac and a feeding tube in the next couple days.
Keep praying it's working.
