Richard Stafford's Eagle Scout Project

Hello,
My name is Richard Stafford, Jr. I am finishing up my sophomore year at Bayport Blue Point High School and I am currently working towards the rank of Eagle Scout.
My project will take place at the Blue Point Nature Preserve on a parcel located in the northwestern corner of the Preserve which has a small wetland area and a monarch butterfly waystation. I am working with the Blue Point Community Coalition and have also made contacts with Save the Great South Bay. I will remove invasive plant species and plant native plants. The parcel of land that I will be working on is located just North of the headwaters of Stillman Creek and Stillman Creek runs directly into the Great South Bay. By removing the invasive species and planting native plants, I will be able to help the health of the rest of the creek downstream and the Great South Bay. This project will also benefit the monarch butterfly population by planting native plants for the butterflies in the designated monarch butterfly waystation.
The funds raised will go directly towards purchasing native plant species as well as other supplies and materials associated with my project. Any donation amount will be helpful to me in reaching my goal.
