Redeveloping Rural Hospitals Ghana

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves. We are Juniors that are currently enrolled in TASIS England’s IB Diploma Program. As International Baccalaureate students, we are required to organize a CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) Project, which will allow us students to illustrate self-determination and collaboration with others, fostering a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment from their work.

RHG is a club that aims to create and develop a healthy environment in rural hospitals/clinics. For the past 2 years, we’ve investigated the effect of the healing environment to one’s recovery process. We have learned that factors such as artwork and room colors alongside better medical equipment, of course, produces a better healing environment and encourages faster recovery. We’ve realized that although all these may be present in clinics of first world countries, patients from rural places are not as fortunate. Our goal is to create a healing environment in these hospitals and clinics so that the patients in the rural areas can be as comfortable as possible amidst their infirmity.

This year, we are going to Ghana and we aim to be able to provide this clinic with proper bedding, storage for medicine, a more vibrant environment for healing and much more. We are also going to reconstruct areas and rooms of this clinic to make them more appropriate for the different procedures that take place in each room.

Our first project in Ghana will begin in the month of April 2016 and we aim to complete it by June of 2016. We believe that this is a good way to share with others the things that we fortunately have. Since we are aiming to reconstruct a whole clinic, we ask that you help us by sponsoring our project, which comes to approximately 9,100 US Dollars.  We would be really grateful if you can support our cause by sponsoring a portion of our project. If you would like more information on how the money is spent or more details on how we plan to reconstruct this year’s hospital, feel free to share your comments with us.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you do donate, thank you as well for lending a helping hand. Words can not express how grateful we would be to anyone who does.
