Charli's Angels
Donation protected
Charlotte and her sister Grace left from Strathmerton, Victoria on a road trip to explore the Northern Territory. Their trip came to an abrupt halt in Alice Springs when Charli acquired an injury to her inner thigh. As a result, Charli developed an extremely serious infection (necrotizing fasciitis), a both life threatening and limb threatening infection. This had unfortunately spread not only through her tissue but also her muscle, this infection can only be cured by surgically removing the infected and necrotic areas. Charli was flown to Darwin for treatment and after a close brush with death, the amazing team at the Royal Darwin Hospital were able to save both her life and her leg. Charli has had numerous surgeries to remove parts of her upper left leg (tissue and muscle). She has now undergone her first skin graft and is gradually on the road to what will be a slow and challenging recovery, including months of rehabilitation and extensive reconstructive surgery to her left leg.
We wish to support Charli and her beautiful family whilst they endure this ongoing challenge. The family is going to be faced with the cost of the future reconstructive surgery in addition to the cost of accommodation and travel to and from Darwin.
