Reyna Guzman's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected

Meet my family. My huge, kind, loving, crazy family.

This week, we are grieving together as we anticipate the loss of my beloved mother - Reyna Guzman.

What can be said about Reyna? She has the most beautiful soul. The most patient, gracious, and hard working mother we could have ever asked for. She juggled two jobs for the majority of her life just so that we could have a roof over our head, nintendos in our room, food on the table, and even spared any money she could for our college needs. She is the reason why I am the person I am today.

(From left to right: my sisters Gisselle & Arlene, my mom)

She has 9 sisters  and 1 brother- each and every one are at her bedside daily.  Greif is a family matter as much as it is an indivual one. It's been hard because the new grief involves confronting family issues that may have been dormant but unresolved for many years. These issues typically reemerge as families move past their initial reactions to a terminal diagnosis and are forced to interact and work together through a process of extended grief.

It is hard to type, and even harder to accept, that mom will soon pass.

Mom has fought long and hard through the cruel battle of cancer for 3 years. She has been strong, resilient, and somehow still her radiant self through the entire thing. Here is a picture of my mom - in pain - yet smiling - at the Westlake Hospital.

Unfortunately, all the various types of  chemo we tried did not work - and there was nothing else that doctors could do for my mom.

My family, my little sisters and I, cannot afford to honor my mother in the way in which she deserves.

We are asking for any contributions - small or large - financial or in prayer - for us to be able to pay for a proper wake, funeral, and burial.

As I am the sole income for the household, we are also praying for financial blessing for living expenses as I take time off of work to take care of all of my mother's final arrangements.

Thank you kindly for reading, and ahead of time for any contribution you feel led to make.

My family appreciates it more than you will ever know.

Sincerly,

George Castro
