A New Van for RETREET!

Donation protected
WE NEED YOU! Will you help us cover the ground to a new van?

Alongside an impressive list of partners, RETREET redefines disaster relief by engaging communities to replant lost trees. Our programs transform moonscapes back into landscapes, re-establish a sense of environmental identity, and make devastated terrain feel like home again. There is no other agency focused on this unique work.

Over the past 5 years, RETREETers representing 21 states and 7 countries joined thousands of local volunteers to plant 4,691 trees in 15 different communities across North America, a donation of more than 8,000 volunteer hours.

Currently, our community travels across the country in a 1988 Dodge sports van. "Big Blue" is indispensible to our operation. It delivers tools and supplies from our homebase and transports RETREETers who've flown in from across the globe. While Big Blue posesses a certain flair, we have yet to go on RETREET without a major mechanical issue debilitating our operation.

Most recently, the Friday night of ROWLETT RETREET, all of Big Blue's electrical systems shut down. It was then too dangerous to use the rest of the weekend.

We took Big Blue to Christian Brothers Automotive the following week, anxious to give a new, highly recommended team of mechanics a shot at fixing both new and persistent issues. Upon hearing the powerful story of RETREET and the challenging mechanical history of Big Blue, the owner of Christian Brothers Automotive presented us with an AMAZING OFFER: a donation of $10,000 towards the purchase of a new van and a promise to service it, for free, in the future.

We immediately began the search for a new RETREETmobile. Luckily, it didn't take much to find one that perfectly suits our operation. With a vinyl interior, low miles, a high roof, and 15 seats, this 2015 Ford T350 has all the right stuff. The best part is, it's right here in North Texas!

We negotiated the price down to $26,000, everything included, making it a great deal. The team at Christian Brothers Automotive ran a full diagnostic test and verified that everything is in working order.

Our Potential New RETREETmobile.

So far, we've put together $16,000, including the generous donation from Christian Brothers Automotive, for the purchase of this van. That leaves a gap of $10,000 for us to fill by the end of February.

We need this van for our upcoming event, WIMBERLEY RETREET II, where residents lost thousands of ancient cypress trees along the Blanco River, and for every RETREET. Your donation will empower us to bring more trees to more people in impacted communities across North America.

TOGETHER, WE CAN DO IT!
