retreat hut project for monk

Donation protected
My name is Karma Lhundrup and I have been a monk in the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism for over 18 years. I first received vows in year 2000.  In January 2003 I travelled to India to take life vows, which means that I am completely committed to this path.  I am based at Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland, the first Tibetan Buddhist monastery to be established in Europe.  The head of this lineage is His Holiness the Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley Dorje, who now resides in India.

Kagyu Samye Ling monastery is situated in the borders of Scotland in the UK. It was started in 1967 by my teacher Acharya Akong Tulku Rinpoche and Chogyum Trungpa Rinpoche under the auspices and at the request of Rangjung Rikpe Dorje, the 16th Karmapa. It is the largest Vajrayana Buddhist monastery in Europe. To find out more, please go to www.samyeling.org

Project Retreat Hut.

I  need to raise funds for a new boiler and some essential work around the retreat hut

The existing oil boiler needs replacing.  At the moment it leaks badly. There is a bucket in place to catch the water which must be emptied every 8 hours (The boiler has been in this crippled condition for 3 years now) The heating engineer who has maintained and fixed the boiler several times has informed me that it is no longer financially viable to keep fixing it and the wisest thing to do is to replace it with a gas boiler which will be guaranteed for life. The gas cylinders on the outside of the retreat hut will have to be relocated. Whilst in retreat there were times when I wanted to go outside for 10 minutes to breathe fresh air and look at the sky. Adjacent to the retreat hut is a large building where 1 week long or 10 day retreats take place on a regular basis. Because I am in strict solitary retreat I should not be seen by others while I am practising or between sessions. For this reason, I would like to erect a fence to enable me to easily venture outside unseen.

I would also like to erect a small structure in which I can house a back stretching machine as my hut is far too small to accommodate it , as I have had back problems now for over 30 years.

Two small outdoor cupboards need to be built to house a spare gas cylinder and a small set of ladders.
