Help Rebuild My Hometown - Khokana

Rebuilding Khokana, the living museum

Khokana, a traditional and tiny Newari village about eight kilometers south of Kathmandu (on the outskirts of Patan), which has its own history and has retained its tradition and culture. It is a living museum and recalls medieval times. The farming community of Newars who live here are mostly dependent on agriculture and much of their daily activities take place outside of their dwellings. (WIKIPEDIA)

Khokana, suffered considerable damage to the 7.8R earthquake that hit on April 25th 2015 and the aftershocks that followed. 80% of the villagers lost their homes to the quake. Many depend on subsistence agriculture. Rebuilding homes for them is going to be a near to impossible task.

Restoration Khokana is a team of residents of Khokana.  We are evaluating families that will benefit from a Restoration Khokana grant so they can rebuild a cost-effective, modest, but permanent house. We would like to prevent this beautiful village from turning into a slum of makeshift shelters.

We have raised over $6,000 from various other fundraising efforts. Please help us reach our goal of 25K. More we raise, more homes we can help rebuild for the homeless. We also have a tax-exempt option if you woud like to know about it, please comment or message.

Thank you so much for your support.
