PLEASE HELP KENSINGTON HILLTOP ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RESTOCK SCHOOL & EMERGENCY SUPPLIES

On the morning of January 7th, 2019, staff and parents were dismayed to find that the Dad’s Club, emergency, gardening and Running Club supply containers at Hilltop School had been broken into—for the second time in four months. Back in September, thieves hacked through the lock loops to break into two outdoor containers, taking approximately $1000 worth of disaster preparedness and fundraising equipment. School groups had nearly finished replacing the stolen items when thieves struck again over Winter Break.

Unfortunately, the second theft was more serious. From the disaster container, for instance, all the search & rescue gear such as stretchers, helmets, vests, and gloves were stolen, as well as all the medical supplies. All together, these thefts have cost us an estimated $7,000 painstakingly raised and spent over the past decade.

Kensington parent groups are working with school and community leaders to address the loss and create a new strategy to address security concerns. Community members are invited to contribute generously to a GoFundMe campaign to replace stolen items and help fund a plan to prevent future thefts. Please consider that a well-prepared school makes a well-prepared neighborhood. Thank you!
