Please help us give our little rescue a full life

Suddhu, our 11 month old puppy, came all the way from Sri Lanka to be with us in Italy. Her mother was a street dog who had 3 litters before she could be sterilised.  Suddhu is only one of 8 survives and one of 3 to have come to join us from the other side of the world.

Her litter mate died the day after she was collected to come to Europe. Had she not come that very day it would most likely have been her fate too.

She is the loveliest little dog you will ever meet. She can never contain her excitement when she encounters humans and animals alike. Unfortunately though, she has had a terrible cough for the past 5 months. If that wasn’t enough she was seriously ill with tick fever after her arrival. She has had severe recurring skin conditions and even though she has been on antibiotics since November, every month she ends up having high fever and won’t eat or drink or even move much at all.

She has already had frequent trips to the vets, at times as many as 3 times a week. And though she is always put through a lot she has continuously been very brave and cooperative at the vets.

After all this time she has now been referred to a veterinary hospital to have more intrusive test carried out. They now suspect she is suffering from lymphoma even though she is less than a year old.

Her ultrasound scan has shown that she is suffering from enlarged lymph nodes and an enlarged and somewhat deformed spleen. One of her kidneys is underdeveloped and she has stones in her gall bladder. Her blood test results also point to problems with her immune system and she has had an ever lasting anemia.

Unfortunately where we live there is no health insurance for our beloved pets and after 5 months we now find ourselves struggling to pay for any further  treatment. The funds we are urgently seeking are to cover the next round of tests to determine if she has lymphoma. Should the results come back positive this could mean the difference between her living or dying. The sooner she gets treatment the better her chances will be.

Anyone one one would have been forgiven for thinking that she was one of the lucky ones, having been adopted and saved from homelessness but Suddhu has had so many hurdles to overcome. And all we want to do is give her the best possible care she can have in return for all the love and affection she gives us and anyone else she may meet. Please help her continue her journey and may it be a long healthy one.

For anyone who has read this far thank you for taking the time to listen to Suddhu’s story. We will be eternally grateful to anyone who can help either financially or by sharing our story or sending positive thoughts and well wishes her way. Thank you!
