Hello. My name is Jasmine and I am a 30 year old mother of two young boys. We live in rural Oregon with my fiancé. On February 4th, 2015 I was diagnosed with a pineal region teratoma (a brain tumor). This kind of tumor is extremely difficult to operate on because it is in the center, underside of my brain. On top of that, in March of 2018 I was diagnosed with severe gastroparesis.
For the past 4 years I have suffered from severe headaches, dizziness, lost eyesight, regular seizures, incessant vomiting (I throw up between 30-50, times every single day), and drastic weight loss. Along with several other side effects from these symptoms, including going into cardiac arrest, and hyperglycemic comas. I now receive 100% of my nutrition, and hydration enternally.
On top of the physical toll, there is a mental toll as well. I have fallen into spells of severe depression, and I suffer from mood swings and feelings of hopelessness. I am incredibly fortunate to have an amazing support system from my fiancé, friends, and family that have been able to help keep me fighting, but it hasn't been easy for any of us.
At the end of 2016, my symptoms became almost intolerable. I was forced to retire from the career I loved, and move from the house I lived in as an employee of the USFWS. My, now fiancé, Daniel, moved in with me and my children in February of 2017. We have spent the last 2 years fighting not only my tumor, but the extremely devastating, incurable disease, gastroparesis.
Medical expenses in any case are astronomical. They are made much worse by my rural location. The specialty care I require, along with travel expenses is often overwhelming. I was recently informed that my healthcare coverage (received by the government) had lapsed, and I will lose all services. Any and all support is appreciated more than I could ever show.
