Chris Burrous, a fixture on KTLA 5's Morning News in Los Angeles, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday.
For decades, audiences across the country welcomed Chris into their homes.
He was an award-winning journalist and anchor, a storyteller, a connoisseur of the best mom-and-pop joints in every town he lived in - Burrous Bites - but the one role he was most proud of was husband and father.
Chris was a husband, a father, a son and a friend.
This account has been set up - with his family's blessing - to help Chris's wife Mai and nine-year-old daughter Isabella, the loves of his life.
Chris's friends want to make sure Mai and Isabella have all the support they need during this difficult time.
As they mourn and deal with this sudden loss, the last thing they need to worry about right now is how to pay for a funeral, Mai finding a job, bills and other immediate expenses.
If you had the good fortune to know Chris or if he simply brought you a smile from the other side of your TV, I hope you will consider a donation.
It takes a village and together WE can make a difference. No amount is too small.
All monies collected here are going straight to the family.
Please share and please keep Chris's family, including his parents, mother-in-law and extended members, in your thoughts and prayers.
We love you Mai and Isabella.

A message from Mai Do-Burrous:

"Words can never fully convey how profoundly grateful I am for the tremendous show of kindness and astounding generosity so many of you have shown to Isabella and me in the wake of Chris’ sudden passing. I am overwhelmed in the knowledge that your love and admiration for Chris could somehow also extend to his family in our time of darkness. Even as we struggle with our own heartbreak, we find comfort in the knowledge that we are not alone. We thank you so much.”

On behalf of Chris's family, THANK YOU.
The outpouring of love and support - thru your comments, prayers and donations - are a source of comfort during this trying and dark time.
The goal of his friends here is to be able to lessen at least one of the immediate concerns. We want Mai to be able to grieve and focus on their daughter without worrying, at least right now, about what's next.
For now, the family is beginning to plan for Chris's funeral.
Mai's sister Rosemary also started a GoFundMe account to help out. Both of these accounts - this one and hers - are legitimate and as of now are the ONLY ones.
More updates later.
For now, please continue to keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
