Remembering Adam Ross

At around 8:15PM on Saturday, the 2nd of March, my sister’s fiancé, Adam Ross, was killed on his way home to his family, when he hit a kangaroo on his motorbike.

Adam was the closest thing I've ever had to a brother. He, in all respects that mattered, was my brother. He was due to be married to my sister this year and the two of them had just had a beautiful child together, Hudson Albert, now seven months old. This tragedy brings with it unimaginable sorrow upon my family, my sister and their three children.

Adam was the life of every party and the inimitable joy in every room. He stepped into my sister's life and took on the role of a father without hesitation, with pure love and genuine excitement. Our family embraced this wonderful, loving man with open arms, and we were proud to call him a son, or a brother, and soon, a husband.

With a mortgaged house, a beautiful daughter, two wonderful sons and a wedding on the way, this absolute tragedy has shattered us as a family and struck us deep at the core. I cannot begin to fathom what my sister is going through and will continue to endure, despite the love shown to us by all the people Adam has touched in his bright and happy life.

I don't know how, in the wake of Adam's death, that my sister and our family and Adam's family will be able to afford all of the necessary preparations for a funeral.

I want Adam to be remembered for the great and loving man that he was by all that knew him. I don't want him to be characterised in death by the hole he left here, but to be remembered by the light and love he gave all of us in life.
