Many of you have known me as "Pr. Scott". I've served the Lutheran church (ELCA) since 1994. I've traveled coast to coast including Canada helping congregations and college campuses through transitions often doing the work of conflict resolution. I've been working on my PhD in psychology and counseling since May 2011. On 5/1/19 I submitted my final draft of my doctoral dissertation.
At long last I've nearly reached my goal. I could use your help. I've already paid $8308.75 toward my tuition and fees. I have until July 20, 2019 to pay the remaining balance of $6781. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Luther’s Trauma: Understanding Trauma Today, Its Effects, and Its Treatment in Existential Analysis
My dissertation abstract is:
This research is focused on trauma. It assesses current research to understand its definition, history, and effects. In addition, my research explores the reality of trauma through some of the personal experiences of the 16th century church reformer and cultural icon Martin Luther and the 20th century psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl. This research looks at cognitive neuroscience to examine the role of volition and free choice toward addressing trauma. Logotherapy becomes one specific means through which one can address trauma and live beyond it. I introduce a specific exercise of choice cataloging to work alongside logotherapy, meditation, and mindfulness to assist one in managing trauma while altering cognitive functioning toward a healthier state of being. In considering logotherapy and its “freedom of the will” and “will to meaning” I end with an assessment of forgiveness, its health values, and its association with the highest expression of the will to meaning.
