Relocation to Seward, Alaska

Donation protected
Hello all my amazing friends and followers. First, let me say how grateful I am to share my life and experiences with you. Even from behind this screen I can feel your love, and in today’s world, that’s really quite priceless. Second, I have some exciting news: I’m starting a new chapter in my life and moving to Alaska for the 2017 field season.

I will be working with Kenai Fjord Tours (KTF) as a marine science educator (teaching kids K-12 on a boat which becomes something of a floating classroom), deckhand, and captain. While I’m sad to be leaving the San Juan Islands and the killer whales that I know as family, certain synchronicities made it clear it was time to move on. I’m trying to listen to words unspoken, and follow my heart.

I’m very excited at the opportunity to develop my captaining skills/credentials further, and deepen my knowledgebase of the natural world in one of the most beautiful and pristine landscapes on this Earth. I have no idea where this journey will lead me, but I’m confident the benefits will ripple out far and wide – hopefully for the environment, wildlife, and people that I hold dear to my heart. I have big dreams for the next few years … engaging in more photography safaris to inspire thousands, working in Antarctica, seeing more of the world, teaching anyone and everyone about that world, and entering into a Masters program in an ecologically related field hopefully centering around killer whale behavior and biology.

This will come as no surprise to those of you who know me, but it’s clear to me that my life’s purpose is to invoke positive change in people to care about our fragile Earth and its biodiversity. I aim to pass on inspiration and lessons that I’ve learned throughout the natural world through photography. My hope lies in the possibility that if I can inspire a few, those few can inspire thousands. Eventually thousands can change the way a collective lives, in a world where biodiversity is becoming increasingly threatened. I envision a bright future; one full of life, color, and the endless possibilities of becoming lost, and finding oneself, in nature. I’m not sure how Alaska will influence my life’s mission, but I know that’s where I’m supposed to be at this time.

That being said, I don’t have the financial resources yet to travel back to Washington from Vermont, and up to Alaska in mid to late March. The relocation to Alaska is proving to be quite expensive. I’m asking for people to help me continue to inspire the masses and invoke change by sponsoring my trip, and sharing this request far and wide. In return for financial donations, I will offer my photography towards those that help with the relocation expedition. I’m also committing to writing a weekly blog post about my Alaska experience. Please help me help this Earth.

I have you all to thank for my incredible life. I feel so much gratitude that I have a place in your heart, in your family, and in your mind because that really means that the killer whales and other wild animals and landscapes I’m so desperately trying to preserve do as well. The consciousness is there. The energy is moving. The love is pliable, and that’s a beautiful thing.
