Relief fund for mom and dad

Hi everyone, my name is Nicole Martinez and I am the daughter of Daniel and Olga Martinez. I am 24 years old and my father has been sick pretty much my whole life. In 1992 my dad broke his back and needed to have surgery, in total he has had 5 surgeries on his back but during his second surgery the doctor cut one of his main arteries and he needed a blood transfusion. It turned out that the blood he was given was contaminated with hepatitis C. Over the years the hepatitis took over his liver and eventually turned into scerosis. My dad slowly started to deteriorate and his doctor suggested he recieve a liver transplant. By the grace of God he recieved one within 4 months of being on the list. After his transplant he was in a coma for 28 days and caught pneumonia. At the age of 13 my sister being 9 we were stuck without our parents for almost two months not knowing whether or not our dad was ever going to come home. While my mom was in San Antonio with my dad she was out of work and we had no income coming in. My mom came back to El Paso and tried applying for food stamps to feed my sister and I but was denied because technically ''she still had a job''. My dad finally came home and because of the transplant has to take over 11 medications daily. Because of the side effects of all of the medications he is taking it eventually started effecting his other organs. Now my father is on oxygen because he has pulmonary fibrosis and his lungs only operate at 50%. His kidneys are also slowly deterorating and he has been hospitalized over 100 times because of the many complications he has. My mom is the only source of income for herself and my father and she is and always has been in over her head with the debt of medical bills. My mom also misses a lot of work because my dad is not approved for home health and he sleeps 70% of the day due to his lack of energy from his lungs working so hard to keep him alive. To me my dad fights hard and at this point in his short life of only 56 years old he has no quality of life. My mom has stuck by his side through all of this and it has really taken a toll on her as well. My mom cannot retire because then she will lose her medical benefits given to her through her job and she would also lose the life insurance she has on my dad. Without her job there is no way my mom would be able to afford all of my dads medications and still be able to take care of themselves financially. Physically and emotionally both of my parents are exhausted and my mom just wants to be able to spend time with my dad and take care of him without having to worry about the finacial burden. FOR ONCE I just want my parents to be able to be worry free as far as money. We do not know how much longer we will have my dad with us and any help would be greatly appreciated by all of us. My dad has my mother, my sister, myself, and his three grandkids to live for and a life without him is not imaginable. Thank you for hearing our story and thank you for helping. Please continue to share my dads story.
