Rejin's Gastric Cancer Fund

Donation protected
On February 14th, Rejin was told that she possibly had ovarian cancer. A previously healthy 32 year old was now facing a devastating cancer diagnosis. She was scheduled to have a total hysterectomy (removal of her ovaries and uterus) and pathology testing of the masses on Febuary 17th. However, during her surgery, the surgeon discovered masses (cancer) throughout her abdomen. Her surgeon could not remove anything due to the extent of the cancer. It would have been more detremental to Rejin's health than beneficial to remove anything as previously planned. The surgeon discussed in length her findings and they were words that she and her family never expected to hear. Rejin did not have ovarian cancer. Instead, her surgeon suspected that she had metastatic gastric (stomach) cancer. On February 19th, Rejin had another procedure which would confirm their biggest fear. She was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer.

Although Rejin and her family have been completely devastated by the news, Rejin made the decision to fight the cancer. Radiation and surgery are not options due to how advanced the cancer is, but she was given the option of chemotherapy. She had a port placed and started her first round of inpatient chemotherapy on Tuesday, Febuary 21st. She has a very long and hard road ahead of her, but she does not want to give up hope and neither should we. She will continue several more rounds of chemo and work with a team to manage her pain and discomfort related to the cancer and chemotherapy.

Rejin has health insurance through her workplace but we all know that insurance will not cover everything. Due to Rejin's current state of health, her sister, Kajin, left her job as a teacher at The Academy to be able to stay at her bedside. Along with not being able to work, hospital bills, and the daily expenses of being in the hopital, money should be the last thing on this family's mind. Any amount that you decide to give will be appreciated by this wonderful family. If you can not contribute, please pray for Rejin and her family. This shouldn't be a fight that she fights alone.
