Rehana Khan-Brown Medical Funds
This has been a long week for my family and they are traveling long distances daily to be at my mom's side. In addition to spending money on travel and hotels, they will be missing a monthly income and could use some help in offsetting these unexpected costs.
I'm asking you to consider supporting my mom and our family through this very difficult and unpredictable time by donating whatever amount you can. If you are not able to donate, please share this post with others. All raised funds will go directly to Rehana or Rick Brown to help pay for travel to and from the hospital, and continue to support my youngest sisters Kaegan and Madeline Brown, who still live at home and rely on my mom’s income to meet their basic needs.
I know my mom has a lot of kind people on her side and I would like to say thank you and we love you in advance.
"My mother wants to live, she wants to be here for my sisters and I, our family and all of you wonderful people who are on her side. This is a very trying time but the lord is on our side and if I know anything about my mama it is that she is a fighter. I ask that you continue to send your love, support, and prayers. We are staying strong in our faith and trusting in the lord. Continue to stay positive and hopeful, and full of faith. -Kaegan Brown
I have been meaning to give you an update for a while now, but I live in West Virginia and it can take me some time to gather up information on my strong, intelligent, beautiful Momma. I have reached out to my aunt Tyra who has been spending every possible moment she can with her big sister, Rehana, and this is what she and I have for you all.
Rehana has completed 15 radiation treatments on February 1st. Her medical oncologist ordered testing on some tissue from the tumor that was removed to determine the next best course of treatment. Rick is working with the doctor on that and she will be starting chemotherapy soon. Rehana is receiving restorative rehabilitation therapy at Carriage House Rehab and Health in Bay City to prevent muscle atrophy. Unfortunately due to the paralysis on her right side she is unable to participate in acute therapy.
In February, Rehana was honored by the Bridge Center for Racial Harmony for her years of volunteer work on its board and her tireless efforts in organizing the yearly Martin Luther King event for area students. She was also one of the women chosen to receive the Great Lakes Bay Region YWCA's Women of Achievement award for her work in the area of social justice.
We couldn't be more proud of Rehana for all she has done for her community through the years and for how strong she continues to be.
Please keep her and our family in your thoughts and donate or share our fundraiser so we can get to our goal and offset some of her medical bills.
It has been a while since my last update and I have notice we still have donations coming in. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and shared our fundraiser. My family is endlessly grateful to all of you.
As of right now my mom is still fighting her hardest. She was moved from Detroit back to Bay City shortly after Christmas. She is currently at Heartland Health Care Center and will be there for as long as she needs to be. She is still experiencing paralysis on he right side of her body and is having a difficult time communicating. She started radiation last week and will continue with these treatments for 17 weeks.
My sisters and my parents rely heavily on their faith and would like you to continue praying for my mom's health. Please keep us in your thoughts.
Thanks again for your support.
Thanks for sharing and contributing to my mom's campaign. We want you to know your contributions have been beyond helpful and if my mom could write this she'd say she loves all of you.
"Day 13 - Rehana is sleeping. She is still in the neuroscience ICU. She has been taken off dopamine. Her heart rate and blood pressure continue to be monitored but are steady. We are learning to be patient as this recovery will take time. She was able to participate in physical therapy yesterday. Today is a beautiful new day and we are thankful she is a strong woman!! She smiled last night when I told her that she would see her Maddie girl today!! Love to you all
Please let your mom know that she really is in my heart and in my prayers. Such a special and magnificent woman deserves a complete healing from Heaven.
Pl re ease give your Mom my best! Love and good thoughts for all of you!!
Rehanna - we are saying prayers for a full recovery for you.
Thanks so much for the updates. I will be bring food by the house tomorrow evening sometime between 4-6 ish!
Crystal, thank you for your updates. Your composure, maturity and eloquence in the face of this are a testament to your mom's wonderful parenting and her strong love and support of you girls and your dad. I'm sending love and positivity to all of you-stay strong!
