My name is Megan Clark , and I'm a Portland-local filmmaker and documentarian.
STORY
While a sophomore in college in 2013, I embarked on the most difficult and transformative experience of my life: creating a documentary about the Oregon Sex Offender population.
With the help of a $3,000 grant provided by the Richter Scholars Program and the support of family, friends, and professors, the film was finally completed in September of 2016.
When I first began pursuing this project nearly three years ago, there were no film-related conversations about our nation's sex offender population aside from fear-mongering features often seen on the 6 o'clock news. Since then, I'm overwhelmingly excited to say the documentary Pervert Park (2014) is now on Netflix and Untouchable (2016) has received wide acclaim as well.
However, there's still more work to be done. My hope with Registered as a short-form documentary, is to continue to add to the noise that says "sex offenders are humans and we have been going about public safety the wrong way". In light of recent events, it feels more important than ever to hold up a mirror to society and offer insight into things unfamiliar, foreign, and even scary to us.
The reason I've created a GoFundMe page is because throughout the making of the film, funds were generously donated to the process and I would like to pay those back so they can be poured into the community this film aims to help:
Music Licensing - $2,300
DVD Printing - $1,143

Along with this, I hope to submit the film to a number of both local and national festivals. This number is less precise, but encompasses both submission fees and helps to subsidize travel costs.
