Motherland: A Story Collage of Refugee Experiences will bring together Refugee Poets and Storytellers for one night at the Death Rattle Writer's Festival in Nampa, Idaho on Saturday, October 7th.
These funds will go directly to the performers to pay them for their time and travel to the event.
While Idaho has been a welcoming community for Refugee resettlement for many years, too often this part of our community is unseen and unheard. We are living in a crucial moment when human connection and compassion is more important than ever. Storytelling can break the boundaries of culture and time to create a moment of true understanding and kinship.
There are so many barriers to bringing voices of marginalized communities to the forefront. It is our hope that we can honor these voices with the kind of resources they are worthy of.
