Refugee Camp Calais Volunteering

My interest in helping with the refugee crisis was sparked by Jaz O'Hara from the Worldwide Tribe who came to Mallorca and introduced a group of people to the amazing hands-on work she and her family & friends (and now established charity)  have been doing helping at Europe's refugee camps. Her brother made many films in the camps interviewing the refugees . The misery and desperation of the stranded, uprooted, and confused humans was over-whelmingly touching. I decided there and then that I want to help more than just making a compassionate facebook post. It took me a few months of research to understand where I should best go and offer my time. I have now booked my trip to Calais on 20th December. I will stay for my complete Christmas and NewYear holiday, as I hope to make a small difference  in the makeshift camps in the cold and miserable winter months. I will be working with Care4Calais who The Worldwide Tribe is connected to. I am entirely self-financing my travel & accomodation, however, I hope to fundraise some money to help  with whatever is needed when I am there, such as warm clothes, tents, toiletries, presents for the children.  
I strongly believe that a human being who risked their life, lost all belongings, and often loved ones, should find some kindness on the other side.
