The Reedemer Lutheran Church in Bettendorf, Iowa supports an active youth ministry designed to help youth explore and grow their faith while encouraging them to become caring and involved leaders in society as they move into adulthood.
The youth ministry includes many experiences outside of the physical walls of the church to give the youth a greater exposure to other youth and life-experiences and situations around faith they may not see at home. The program strives to teach and instill a strong sense of service to others. As part of their service, youth have travelled out of state on mission trips to help repair homes in depresses areas of the country, served meals as homeless shelters, delivered meals and other activies.
Currently the Reedemer Youth Program is raising funds to send 12 youth to the National Youth Gathering, held once every three years, and which is being hosted in Houston, Texas this summer. The Gathering is a chance for the youth to meet youth from across the country and even world where they are able share different views on faith and friendship and look at life-stories different from their own. The Gathering offers music, presentations, service opportunities, unique faith experiences and certainly time to have fun and meet new people.
All funds raised will go directly to the youth campaign for this trip to help with the costs of transportation, housing, meals and registration costs. And please understand the youth have worked very had to raise their own funds through hard work. The youth have hosted dinners at church, a trivia night, made and sold pizza and are required to contribute their own personal funds to the trip as well.
