Cancer Focused Apothecary

In June 2017, I lost my mother and best friend to metastatic breast cancer. Her journey with cancer started originally in 2011, when she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. After several long months of both chemotherapy and radiation, she made it into remission —the years following were easily the best years of my life. She and I made the most incredible memories, full of laughter and adventure. We built a relationship that truly changed my life. In early 2016, my mom ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. Unbeknownst to us, she also had metastatic breast cancer in several places in her body. The news devastated us in a way I didn't know possible. She decided that after all she had endured, she was going to refuse treatment and look for natural healing alternatives. She searched online, read books, consulted in countless people, only to become overwhelmed with the vast and vague amount of information out there. With the doctors telling her that they couldn't help her unless she underwent treatment, she gave up and gave in. After many more months of chemotherapy, and countless hospital visits, we found out that the cancer, had in fact, spread to her brain. The only suggestion from the doctors at this point was for her to go through several weeks of radiation on her brain. The radiation (as well as the chemo) left my mom with several side effects that made her question whether treatment was even worth it. Not long after treatment ended, my mom passed away.

This story is not meant to break your heart, but rather bring your attention to the incredible potential of the earth medicine movement. Our aim is not to discredit or discourage the use of traditional oncology, but rather to encourage the incorporation of plant medicine into the standard regimen to alleviate side effects and provide remedial care.

In honor of my fierce and courageous mother, our focus at Redtail Herb & Wildcraft will be exclusively on the cancer community. No matter the type or stage, it is our goal to provide the products necessary to achieve comfort and healing care. Though our products will be safe for everyone to use, our reach is unique, as we aim to bring education and resources (that are often scattered and hard to find) all to one place in order to make things easier for those who are currently working through life with a chronic illness. Whether you choose alternative holistic care or an integrative oncology approach, we work to provide everything you need in order to have a research backed, earth-based regimen to empower and heal.

Redtail Herb & Wildcraft will be a small farm dedicated to the comfort and care of those with cancer. We will provide locally grown and wildcrafted herbal remedies to promote relaxation, self-care, as well as aid in the side effects of both chemotherapy and radiation. As an earth-based approach to cancer care, we believe it's important for our products to be sustainable and ethically sourced, that is why each and every one of our remedies designed to heal, relieve, and relax, will be grown and crafted by hand. We hope to create self-care packages, symptom relief kits, and overall daily routine items to aid, ease, and heal. As a small farm, we aim to reach as many people as possible, while still abiding by our core beliefs in  the local medicine movement.

With a growing need and limited resources, I am hindered by financial constraints. Today, on the year and half anniversary of mom's passing, I am calling on your contribution in order to bring Redtail Herb & Wildcraft into fruition. If you choose to donate, you will have a direct impact on the earth-based medicine movement in the cancer community.

The passing of my idol, my best friend, and my greatest advocate left me shattered, I felt helpless as I watched her fight for so many years. After growing alongside her in her cancer journey, I knew that I had to cultivate my life around helping others heal. I believe that in harnessing this herbal craft, we hold the potential to alleviate a great deal of symptomatic and stress-induced pain. But I can’t do it without you. We are looking to raise this money to cover initial start-up costs for our small farm. Farming will begin Spring 2019, and we have a lot to prepare. Your contribution will allow us the opportunity to positively alter someone else’s journey, making it easier on them to focus on what’s most important, winning that fight!

I cannot stress enough how much each and every one of your contributions mean to me, and what they will mean for all those out there searching for an earth-based approach to cancer care. Thank you so much, I am honored that you are joining me on this journey!
