Redcoat Goats

Hello, and thank you for having a look at our fundraiser.

A new organic goat dairy for the Olympic Peninsula is our plan. Three years into the project, by August of this year, we were just weeks away from WSDA Grade A license inspection and milk sales. We have boldly stepped out into RAW + ORGANIC GOATS MILK sales, because that's what we believe in.

Some long-awaited milk-sales revenue was just around the corner.  All our resources and some loaned resources have gone into the project, so it was about time for our 60+ dairy goats to start paying for their feed!

Life can take unexpected turns, and I truly believe and trust in God, He has lifted us up and carried us forward in the face of some insurmountable challenges both financial and physical.  He is faithful, has answered our prayers and blessed us with many miracles and angels to help out on the farm to keep this project alive. Nothing shakes my faith in Him

Only weeks ago, my husband and partner in the dairy Stephen had a major surgery following a heart attack.  I didn't know at the time when I was visiting him in hospital, that within a few weeks he would be visiting me in hospital after a horrific car accident and subsequent surgery.  I truly am thankful to have survived that, and that the driver of the vehicle that pulled out in front of me was uninjured.

And so, we are now in a different position, and have to shelve plans to sell milk this year, weather the Winter and start-up in Spring.

Some huge blessings have come to us through this, with astonishment, we are just humbled, by the support of true friends and the community of our Dungeness Community Church,  boundlessly appearing with nourishment and physical help on the farm, an amazing testimony of what it means to be a member of a church family, we are thankful for that.

There remain some major and vital parts of infrastructure missing on our farm, such as the barn which we planned, which would house the goats and hay. The support from friends and church has been encouraging, and we’ve learnt to dump the pride, and let love in.  Now I see that any help that comes to us will allow us to serve our community better through our dairy farm, and make it a truly community spirited project.

We are thankful to some outstanding people who have stepped in to help, because of the impossibility of milking goats on crutches.  Particularly astonishing is, a retired couple from our church in their 70's, who drive 1 1/2 hours to do the morning chores with their grandson, Alex, who is milking the goats! Alex has a disability, and it has given me great joy to learn that we can employ disabled people on our farm! Another opportunity and many joyful encounters which arose from all this.

We are hopeful that you will feel encouraged to support your local farm, as we aspire to be part of the revival of dairy farms on the Peninsula, which once was home to several hundred dairies and now is home to just a few.

By helping us in sharing and populating this page, we trust that some people would have the opportunity and heart to support this venture.
