Eric & Camille Massaro, originally from Minnesota, have lived in Bozeman for 4 years as Eric was working on his doctorate at Montana State. Earlier this summer he earned his PhD in Chemistry! They have one daughter and Camille is pregnant with their 2nd child - a boy who is due in early September!
As many of you know, on Saturday, August 11th, Eric competed in the Bridger Ridge Run - about a 20 mile run along the top of the Bridger Mountains in Bozeman, MT. It was Eric & Camille's 6th anniversary! He was nearing the end when he passed out and suffered a severe heat stroke. He was brought down the trail and taken to the hospital where he has been in the ICU. He was unconscious for two days, but thankfully awoke and has been improving every day. Most of his major organs getting back to normal and he is continuing to recover. An MRI revealed that there may be something in his cerebellum that was affecting his short-term memory, speech, and motor skills. He will be working with some specialists as he recovers and rehabilitates and we're praying for a full recovery!
We're so thankful that the Lord spared his life and for all those in the race and those nearby who sprung into action to help assist Eric - the outcome could have been much worse! We're thankful for all the medical staff and those at the hospital who have been caring for Eric and continue to do so!
Eric had just started a new job a week before the race and they are awaiting the soon arrival of their new son. They have been serving at Calvary Chapel and oversee our youth ministry as well as help in worship. It's our desire to come alongside their precious family during this time and to help meet their needs as they focus on Eric's recovery with their growing family! There are still some unknowns at this point, but they will have needs associated with Eric's care and recovery in addition to him not being able to work right now. We appreciate any help you may be able to give to help lighten their load and are so thankful for all the love and support that has been poured out already. Keep them in your prayers and we look forward to how the Lord will use this in their lives as well!
