Rebuilding Chalish, Nepal

Rebuilding Chalish

Nepal needs help and money to rebuild their monasteries, cultural heritage sites and villages destroyed by the earthquake. This will take time.

Friends that we made on our trip to Nepal in 2013 are  Dhan, our guide, and Tej, our contact at the agency. Both come from the same village, Chalish, where their parents and relatives live. Chalish is a village north west of Katmandu,  in the region of Dhading, 100 km from the epicenter of the earthquake Saurparni. Chalish is three days walk  from the closest road, on a less popular trek than Annapurna or Everest base camp. People live from agriculture and to a lesser extent from trekkers  who stop for food and lodging. All the houses, school, and lodges are demolished or too damaged to live in. The needs of Nepali people are actually too great for their government to cope with and small villages are not a priority for the governement or even International Organization. We were touched by Tej's promise to rebuilt his village and this is where we have decided to do something, contribute and make it our promise.

If you would like to make a  personal contribution to assist the Nepalese people with a guarantee that the money will go directly to the people without administration expenses, then you should consider donating here and we will personally ensure the funds reach the village of Chalish.

Sincerely,
The Feltham & Lauzon Families
