REBUILD THE BBC

Donation protected
My name is Tyson Tame and I am a past member of the Brandon Boxing Club as well as a personal friend to Noel Harding.

Everyone is aware of the horrible downtown Brandon fires that have claimed many homes and businesses for which many of us feel very sad and helpless. In amongst these horiffic losses is an operation near and dear to my heart in the Brandon Boxing Club.

Noel Harding along with the assistance of his biggest fan and Mother, Beverly Harding operate the BBC and have done so for 17 years now this past April. At the heart of this gym is a genuine desire to better the lives of the members, many whom are coached and trained at no charge by Noel and supporting coaches like Brian “Rammer” Ramsden.

THIS IS NOT JUST FOR SPORT.

As a bullied youth I spent nearly a half year in the Brandon Mental Health Center. Upon being released, and with my my father wanting me to learn self defence, he enrolled me in the Brandon Boxing Club which at the time was owned and operated by Terry Fowler Sr.

As I became comfortable and a solid part of the team, my confidence grew, my self image improved, my discipline became stronger. I did not become hostile and angry, I had a place to put my pain and frustration. I grew so much as a person and became Manitoba’s Provincial Champion in 1987.

Noel with a professional record now of 16-1-0 with 14 KO’s is impacting the youth in Westman. Take Landon Broome for example, in just 13 months since joining the BBC he has become a national champion or Paul Riggs who is a national bronze medalist!

This community needs to get behind Noel, Beverly, and the rest of the BBC athletes. We need to keep the doors open to a place of healthy living for young people, a place of personal growth both inside and outside the square circle. I learned in the ring that I could accomplish that which I set my mind to and I am still using those lessons today.

The BBC is not a money maker. Noel has lived with his Mom during many years of operating. He has put all of his heart, soul, and mind into the gym. It will be a long road to rebuild.

Brandon, please place an importance on this campaign to assist in the rebuilding of the club. Noel will need a space as well as funds to replace equipment. Noel did not insure the contents of the BBC as the monthly premiums would have been a burden to the club. $50,000 likely will not correct the entire situation, but it could certainly inspire Noel and Beverly to keep on sluggin’!

All funds will go directly to Noel for him to use as he sees fit in the pursuit of getting back up and running. Withdrawals will be allowed by Noel Harding exclusively.

Thank-you,
