Rebuild Cape Fear Equine Rescue

Cape Fear Equine Rescue, a local non-profit serving the 7 surrounding counties, is located in Rocky Point, NC. We have been at our current location for 3 years. Our mission is to save, protect, and rehabilitate equines in need. We rescue abused, neglected, or abandoned equines; provide them with care and rehabilitation; and finally find them a compatible, loving home. We believe that education is the long-term solution to improving the lives of equines.
CFER provides all equines with all necessary vet and farrier needs, nutritional needs and also provides love to all the equines that in some cases have never had or experienced. We provide support to our community with service projects as well as provide education to local groups like schools, girl scouts, and equestrian groups.
On Thursday, September 13th, hurricane Florence hit the Coast of North Carolina at a Category 1. Instead of hitting us and then leaving, she dumped rain for 3 days, causing widespread flooding, deaths, and devastation.
Our facility, which we have been renting for 3 years was flooded. It is estimated that the barn was surrounded by 10 feet of water. In the barn housed all of our marketing materials, merchandise that is sold, horse supplies, grooming supplies, fencing, mascot costume, office supplies, meds, hay, grain and so much more. All horses were evacuated prior and are safe. As of 9/26/18, the barn still has about 2 feet of water and we are unable to access via road.
Cape Fear Equine Rescue will have to rebuild. We are raising funds to purchase property and to build a barn that we can call home and also provide a home for so many needed equines. A place for our volunteers to provide the love and care that they desire. A place for our community to come and learn about equines and the need for stricter laws.
