Rebecca McGinnis' Medical Funds

After almost 20 years of working for the Forsyth County School System, we put our faith in God that He would provide all our needs and with my family's support and encouragement I started the journey of fulfilling my lifelong dream of becoming a nurse and applied to Lanier Tech's Practical Nursing program. After graduating in May 2014, I found out God had a different plan for my life that I never would have imagined...I was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma. According to the American Cancer Society, most people that have MM are black males over 65. God is good all the time, so I knew He had a good reason for me going through this incurable cancer. Since being diagnosed, I have undergone radiation, three types of chemo, a stem cell transplant in Atlanta, and a stem cell harvest for storage at the Myeloma Institute in Little Rock, Arkansas. There have been many challenges along this journey, including shingles, depression, intestinal bleeding, bronchitis, and pneumonia. I have had several red blood and platelet infusions. I get intravenous antibodies once a month and a bone strengthening infusion every three months. I deal with bone pain from erosion and have over 30 lesions on my bones. Surgery was needed at the time of my diagnosis to repair the collapse of my L1 vertebrae. We travel to Little Rock about every three months for week-long extensive testing and follow-up with my myeloma specialist. I am currently undergoing biweekly inpatient chemo at my local hospital, Northside Forsyth. At the time of my diagnosis three years ago, my local oncologist said my prognosis was around seven years. We know that God has a plan for my life and our faith and trust is in our Lord. We appreciate all of the prayers and support that have been given to our family. We are truly blessed.

Rebecca's husband, Robby, and son, Tyler, both work for Swagelok GA. The Swagelok family would love your help in raising financial support for the McGinnis'. Their love, faith in Christ and positive attitude is an encouragement to all that know them. Please consider donating to this page to show the McGinnis family how much they are loved and how many people are here for their support during this fight.

In addition to this page, the Swagelok family also participated in the Boulder Dash 5k/10k to continue their growth in creating a culture of wellness both in and outside the workplace. Rebecca was able to finish the whole 5k just a day after treatment! Praise God for giving her the strength to finish the race! Rebecca, thank you for the example you set for the Swagelok family to push through when obstacles come your way. We are amazed at your perserverance.
